Dr. Ugoeze Francis C. MBBS (Nig), FWACP pulmonol, LMIH Seattle USA was the pioneer case management pillar lead and currently the Director of the Centre for Disease, Control and Research (CCDCR) Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Asaba. He is a consultant physician and pulmonologist, a fellow of the West African College of Physicians with special interest in infectious diseases.

The advent of coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) gave rise to the deployment of the newly commissioned CCDCR treatment Centre for Covid-19 use. He was then assigned to lead the case management arm of the center by the hospital management. Over 250 patients were admitted and managed by his team during the 1st to 4th wave of the disease. He combined this task with the headship of the pulmonology unit of FMC Asaba during which he managed over two thousand hospitalized patients and reviewed over five thousand patients with general medicine illnesses and respiratory disease at the out-patient clinic. He has currently been appointed the head of department of Internal Medicine.

He acquired leadership training from the University of Washington Seattle USA. He is also certified in project management from the same institution. He is involved in multiple local and international research activities with publications in both local and international journals.

He graduated from College of Medicine University of Nigeria Enugu Campus after his primary education at Ziks Avenue Primary School Onitsha, and secondary education at both Dennis Memorial Grammar School and St. Charles Special Science School Onitsha. He belongs to a number of professional bodies including Nigerian Thoracic Society, Pan-African Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society and American Thoracic Society.
