The Centre for Disease Control and Research (CDCR), Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Asaba, hosted a two-day supportive supervisory visit by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th August 2025, marking a major milestone in public health response for Delta State and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Day 1 \u2013 Accreditation as NCDC Centre for MPOX Diagnosis<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday, 14th August 2025, CDCR FMC Asaba was officially certified as an NCDC-accredited centre for MPOX diagnosis. The centre achieved an outstanding milestone by scoring 100% during the quality control period, as all test results were validated by NCDC\u2019s PCR procedures.
With this certification, the centre is now authorized to receive and process MPOX samples from all parts of Delta State and beyond, strengthening regional capacity for timely and accurate diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Day 2 \u2013 Strengthening Collaboration and Public Health Systems<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second day of the visit, Friday, 15th August 2025, was dedicated to knowledge sharing and stakeholder engagement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stakeholder Meeting: A strategic meeting was held with the State Epidemiologist and team at the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC), as well as with the Director of Public Health, Delta State Ministry of Health, to foster stronger collaboration in disease surveillance and outbreak response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Knowledge Exchange: The NCDC team engaged with staff on best practices for line listing and release of MPOX test results, ensuring efficient reporting and data management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Management Debrief: The visit concluded with a debriefing session with the Management of FMC Asaba, highlighting achievements, areas of improvement, and future priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accreditation of CDCR FMC Asaba as an NCDC-certified MPOX diagnostic centre marks a significant advancement in strengthening Nigeria\u2019s health security.
