Medical Laboratory Services

The medical laboratory service plays a vital role as conferred on it by the laws of the federation on the health of the patient in analyzing and examining body fluids and tissues, the results so generated by the medical laboratory scientist in conjunction with the assistants and technicians assist in disease diagnosis, prognosis, management of patients’ ailments as well as public health surveillance and research. The Medical Laboratory Service Department Federal Medical Centre Asaba is a key and critical arm of the hospital.

The Medical Laboratory Services Federal Medical Centre Asaba consist of the Accident and Emergency (A and E) Laboratory, the Antenatal Care Laboratory, Chemical Pathology laboratory, Haematology and Blood Transfusion Service Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory, PERFA Laboratory, Gene Xpert Laboratory, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) laboratory and Histopathology/Cytology Laboratory.

We offers emergencies and 24 hours services in relevant laboratories. We are committed to good professional practice through quality in testing, support and services.

MISSION STATEMENT

  1. The hallmark of our policy is to maintain a quality management system that meets the requirements of ISO 15189, where the excellence in the quality of the examinations and client satisfaction is the result of collective efforts and commitment from all team members.
