Dr. Chukwuemeka Okoye began his medical career when he obtained a MBBS degree at Abia State University, Nigeria in January, 2000. He had a four-month observership at Iyi-enu Hospital, Ogidi, Anambra State; and a one-year internship experience at Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital (now Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki) which ended in June 2001. He embarked on the one-year mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC) at Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, Delta State; following which he was employed by the Centre as a Medical Officer. He later undertook residency training in the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin-City and obtained the prestigious fellowship of West African College of Physicians (Lab. Medicine).

Dr. Okoye also has a Masters of Public Health Degree from the University of Benin and is a Full Member by examination of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered). He has other qualifications from other reputable professional organizations among which are Fellowships of the International College of Surgeons, Institute of Management Consultants, Institute of Industrial Administrators, and Certifications from the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) Switzerland, African Union Scientific, Technical and Research Committee/Indian Council of Medical Research (AU-STRC/ICMR) and CMC among others.

He was appointed Consultant Pathologist in 2014 and became the head of Pathology Department in September, 2018.

Dr. Chukwuemeka Okoye has travelled widely nationally and internationally for trainings and conferences. He is currently the Coordinator, Asaba Cancer Registry and has a passion for research in non-communicable diseases, women’s’ health and the forensic sciences.
