The Department is directly responsible for the management of Hospital’s Patient Care Information Systems and Services.


Vision: To consistently establish and maintain a culture of excellence in Health Information Management Practice, Education, Training and Research in the Hospital.


Mission: To recognize the potentiality in HIM Staff of the Hospital to excel and provide the enabling environment for advancing towards acquiring innovative knowledge in Health Information Management and collaborate with other Health Care providers in rendering Quality care to Patients and Research.


Aims & Objectives: 
The Departmental objectives are not exhaustive with the under listed;

  1. To develop, plan, implement and control Health Information Management systems & services.
  2. To apply an Electronically based Health Information Management system
  3. To design forms and carry out form Inventory & control for their uses and make it possible for electronic transfer or scanning of records..
  4. To Collate, Analyze & present Patient care statistical data and other reports as may be demanded and directed by the Chief Executive and other appropriate Authorities.
  5. To analyze qualitatively and quantitatively patient records (Health Audit) in order to determine whether the level and quality of care rendered meets the expected standard so as to justify the diagnosis, treatment and end result.
  6. To be holistically involved in Clinical Coding of  Disease/ Operation procedures as well as to promote and engage in Basic and applied Research Procedures.
  7. To transmit Information of vital events such as Surveillance and Notifiable of Diseases to appropriate levels of Health Care.
