Welcome to the Department of Surgery, Federal Medical Centre, Asaba. Surgical care in this facility is as old as the hospital, however, the Department of Surgery as it is known today was created following the conversion of the healthcare facility from the status of General Hospital to Federal Medical Centre by the Federal Ministry of Health in 1998.

The Department of Surgery at federal Medical Centre Asaba has evolved from the days of humble beginning with only one full time Surgeon and a visiting part-time Surgeon to a more robust department with full complement of subspecialties 

Presently, the Department is blessed with seasoned and passionate specialist surgeons, enthusiastic resident doctors and compassionate nurses.

Each of these Surgical specialties carries out a wide spectrum of surgeries ranging from simple procedures to the most complex of surgeries as may be required by individual patients pathological conditions
