The Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, Dr. Omo Ekeneam, led the hospital's management team to the Asagba's Palace for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Asaba Drug and Rehabilitation Center on the 20th of July, 2026.
The MOU formally adopts the rehabilitation center — an initiative of the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge — as an offsite facility of FMC Asaba. The rehabilitation center committee was led by Ogbueshi Dr. Ify Uraih.
His Royal Majesty expressed confidence that placing the facility under FMC Asaba's management would ensure quality healthcare delivery, sustainability, and strengthen efforts to combat drug abuse in the Kingdom.
In his remarks, Dr. Ekeneam highlighted the hospital's ongoing efforts to expand mental healthcare services, including plans to establish a *Psychiatric Clinic*, and reaffirmed FMC Asaba's commitment to providing quality care at both the Hospital and the new offsite facility.
The partnership underscores the value of collaboration between traditional institutions and public healthcare providers in improving access to drug rehabilitation and mental health services for the people of Asaba.
