Today is World Tuberculosis (TB) day, and as we mark this celebration today, we want to sensitive the entire public on the need to stay safe.
*How can TB be transmitted*
TB can be transmitted when some with active lung TB coughs, sneezes or spits.
*Symptoms of TB:*
* Coughing for up to 2 weeks.
* Fever (hotness of the body)
* Drenching (soaking) night sweats
* Weight loss
* coughing up blood etc
*How can you prevent TB.*
1. Immunise your newborns against TB.
2. Safe cough practices (Coughing into your elbow instead of your palms)
3. Wear facemasks when you have cough to prevent spread into the atmosphere.
4. Ensure you treat TB completely when diagnosed, don't break the treatment to prevent resistant TB organisms
5. Avoid taking unpasteurised milk
6. Test every HIV patient for TB (TB is the commonest opportunistic infection affecting people with HIV)
7. Avoid Over-crowding
7. Eat healthy
