College of Nursing Sciences, FMC Asaba Holds 2nd Matriculation Ceremony

The College of Nursing Sciences, Federal Medical Centre Asaba, Onicha-Uku, on Tuesday, 17th March 2026, held her second matriculation ceremony in a colorful and memorable event. The ceremony brought together dignitaries, academic staff, parents, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate with the students while reflecting on the remarkable growth of the institution. The Special Guest of Honour, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Chief Sir Monday Onyeme, who was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Prince Osakwe, congratulated the matriculating students and encouraged them to remain diligent, focused, and committed to moral development. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving nursing education and infrastructure. The Guest of Honour, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, in his remarks congratulated the students and commended the successful completion of the college’s event center, a promise he fulfilled. He further pledged to furnish the hall with air conditioners, a standby generator, and other essential facilities. Also present were the Aniocha North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Bazin Chinye, alongside the Vice Chairman, Hon. Nneka Dibia. The event also witnessed the presence of esteemed traditional rulers including His Royal Majesty, Raphael Agbamuche II, the Obi of Onicha-Uku Kingdom; Obi Chukwunomso Nnuoko IV of Idumuje-Ugboko; His Royal Majesty, Obi Ezedimbu Nkebakwu III, Obi of Ugboba Kingdom and Chairman of the Aniocha North Traditional Rulers Committee; His Royal Majesty, Obi Anyasi III of Idumuje-Unor; His Royal Majesty, Barr. Chukwuisiyemeze Ayo, Oloza of Ugbodu; HRM Obi Charles Ikechukwu Abiagom of Ubulubu Kingdom; HRM Obi Sunday Ubaka Ogboli of Issele-Mkpitime Kingdom; HRM Obi Samuel Otiegede III of Idumuogo Kingdom; and HRM Obi Sunday Olisenweokwu of Ogodor Kingdom. In his address, the Acting Medical Director, Dr. Ekeneam Omo, emphasized that the college was established with a clear vision to contribute significantly to healthcare delivery in Delta State, Nigeria, and beyond. He noted the steady progress made by the institution and its critical role in strengthening the healthcare workforce. Dignitaries and traditional leaders present at the event charged the students to uphold professionalism, ethics, and excellence in their academic pursuits. The ceremony marked another milestone in the institution’s journey toward academic excellence and healthcare development.
