Today, March 26, the world marks World Epilepsy Day (Purple Day) a global initiative aimed at increasing awareness about epilepsy and supporting individuals living with the condition.
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures. It affects people of all ages, across all regions of the world. With accurate diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and consistent medical care, many individuals living with epilepsy can lead healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives.
Despite this, epilepsy remains widely misunderstood. Stigma and misconceptions often result in discrimination, social exclusion, and delays in seeking proper medical care.
At Federal Medical Centre Asaba, we remain committed to improving outcomes for individuals living with epilepsy through:
• Early diagnosis and timely access to quality healthcare
• Strict adherence to prescribed treatment plans
• Continuous public education to dispel myths and reduce stigma
We encourage everyone to take part in raising awareness, showing empathy, and supporting those affected by epilepsy.
Together, we can build a more informed, compassionate, and inclusive society where no one is held back by stigma. ????
