Theme: "It's How We Show Up." Today, we celebrate World Autism Awareness Day. A day dedicated to promoting awareness, understanding, and inclusion of people on the autism spectrum. What is Autism? Autism is not a disease, it's a complex developmental condition involving persistent challenges with social communication, restricted interests, and repetitive behaviour. It is a different way of thinking, learning, and experiencing the world. Every individual with autism is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and incredible potential. • Management Early Intervention - developmental assessment, speech/OT, caregiver coaching, school supports builds communication and autonomy. Treats co‑occurring sleep, anxiety, and seizures. • How you show up: Listen to autistic people, replace myths with facts, offer flexible spaces (quiet corners, visual cues), and stay patient - supportive presence changes daily life. While there is no cure, personalised interventions help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. Let’s move beyond awareness to acceptance, by creating supportive environments, showing kindness, and embracing neurodiversity in our communities. A little understanding goes a long way. Let’s listen, support, and care for people living with autism today and always. ???? #WorldAutismAwarenessDay #AutismAcceptance #Neurodiversity #FMCAsabaPRMediaTeam #FMCAsabaDeptofPaediatrics
